Join us in celebrating those whose contributions often fly under the radar - the unsung heroes of the Ballina Shire.

The 2024 Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards are about recognising both individuals and groups, regardless of their profile, who make a remarkable difference in our community through their involvement in community-based activities, sports, the environment, or the arts.

Categories for Nomination:

• YOUNG CITIZEN (under 30 years): Who makes a significant contribution to Ballina Shire.
• VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR: Who works tirelessly behind the scenes to support an organization's activities.
• SENIOR CITIZEN (60 years and over): Who makes a significant contribution to Ballina Shire.
• SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT: For a team or individual who has represented and excelled in their chosen sport at a local, regional, state, national, or international level. Nominations can include sports administrators who have significantly contributed to sports in Ballina Shire.
• ARTS AND CULTURE AWARD: For an individual or group contributing significantly to the creative arts.
• COMMUNITY EVENT OF THE YEAR: For an individual or group who has staged an outstanding community event during 2023.
• ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD: For an individual or group contributing to environmental preservation or advancing environmental awareness in Ballina Shire.

The Citizen of the Year is awarded from the entire pool of nominated candidates.
