Established in 2007, the Northern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) is a leading arts and cultural organisation in the Northern Rivers, fostering creativity and engagement through quality exhibitions and programs, supporting opportunities where arts and culture can thrive.
Owned and operated by Ballina Shire Council, NRCG is housed in the heritage listed former Ballina Municipal Council Chambers and features four professional exhibition spaces, gallery shop and popular Ballina Gallery Cafe.
NRCG presents an annual program of contemporary art exhibitions, providing opportunities for emerging and established artists to exhibit and sell their work as well as presenting touring and curated exhibitions and delivering public programs, workshops, masterclasses and community events.
Ignite Studios, housed in the adjacent heritage listed former Ballina Fire station, was opened in 2018 as a multi-arts facility, expanding NRCG as a dedicated arts and cultural precinct.
Encompassing workshop spaces, creative studio spaces, artist residency and other project spaces for events, Ignite Studios includes subsidised, accessible for-hire community spaces and supports a range of arts and cultural activities.
