All Council facilities have returned to normal operating hours. Ballina Resource Recovery Centre is OPEN daily (8am to 4pm) - expect delays as high demand will mean longer wait times.
Playgrounds are great places for kids to play outdoors. In Ballina Shire there are over 45 playgrounds that Council maintains.
Council recognises the importance of outdoor recreation for healthy and happy children and has developed the Ballina Shire Council Playground Upgrade and Management Plan 2022(PDF, 36MB). This plan aims to improve and provide safe and imaginative playgrounds.

Provide playground feedback
To provide sun-safe and community-friendly playgrounds, Ballina Shire Council has resolved to install shade structures on new playgrounds where there is no adequate shade from trees.
Existing playgrounds renewed under the playground upgrade plan will also be considered for retrofitted shade structures.
