Ballina Shire Council is continuing planning works to duplicate Fishery Creek Bridge on River Street, and Canal Bridge on Tamarind Drive.
Pre-construction work has commenced and will continue during early 2025. This will include relocating underground services prior to commencing bridgeworks.
Ballina Shire Council wishes to advise that underground Telstra services relocation works will commence adjacent to Tamarind Drive the week of Monday 3 March 2025. These works will continue for 2 weeks, weather dependent.
Detours, exclusion zones, and signage will be in place as required to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other shared path users in the vicinity of the works.
The service relocation works are part of Council’s ongoing project to duplicate Canal Bridge on Tamarind Drive and will allow Telstra’s contractor to complete underboring to relocate the existing Telstra communications cable beneath North Creek Canal.
This Council project will be completed across three years and has been funded with $40 million from the Australian Government through the Emergency Response Fund administered by NSW Reconstruction Authority’s Northern Rivers Recovery and Resilience Program 2022-2023.
Council thanks residents for their patience and understanding during these works.
