Future Planning

One of the key roles of Council’s Strategic Planning Section is strategic land use planning. Central aspects of Council’s strategic land use planning roles include:

  • shire-wide strategic plans and policies
  • local strategies and master plans
  • the monitoring and amendment of the Ballina Local Environmental Plan
  • development control plans to guide development at the local level
  • the preparation of development contribution plans to levy the cost of infrastructure required to service new development
  • plans of management

Shire-wide Strategic Plans

These plans and strategies apply to future planning across the whole of Ballina Shire.

Place-based Strategic Plans

Council has a range of key place-based plans to act as a guide for future planning across our shire.

Structure Plans

A structure plan identifies how land is intended to be developed or is being developed and provides a broad framework to guide Council when considering subdivision and development proposals.
