Turning food waste around

The Great Unwaste is a national campaign with a mission to help households have a positive impact on the planet, our people and pockets by providing easy ways to reduce the amount of food we throw away. The target is to reduce household food waste by over 20% by 2030, as part of Australia’s commitment to halve total food waste by 2030.

We are a partner of Love Food Hate Waste and their associated Food Smart program. With the support of North East Waste, households and businesses can learn how to reduce their food waste through better meal plans, smarter shopping and more effective food storage.

Love Food Hate Waste aims to raise awareness about the environmental, economic and social impacts of food waste in NSW and reduce the amount of good food sent to landfill.

The program is run by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and delivered in partnership with NSW businesses, not-for-profit organisations, local councils and community groups who share a commitment to reducing food waste.
