Ballina Shire Council has constructed a new permanent roundabout at the intersection of Byron Bay Road and Byron Street. The new roundabout replaces the existing T-intersection and improves traffic flow and safety.

As our community continues to expand, it is vital we invest in infrastructure that not only meets current needs but also ensures the safety of all residents. The new roundabout improves traffic flow but more importantly provides a safer commute for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

This $1.53 million project is proudly funded through the Australian Government Black Spot Program.

The scope of the project included:

  • Concrete kerb and medians
  • Asphalt pavement
  • Shared path connection for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Pedestrian refuges
  • Linemarking
  • Signage
  • Street lighting
