Conserving Heritage

Heritage advice

Council Officers are available to discuss the care and maintenance of heritage items and buildings, heritage grants and development assessment in cases where the development involves a heritage item or is within the vicinity of heritage listed items or places.

In some cases, staff may recommend further contact with specialist heritage consultants, local heritage groups or government agencies, depending on the circumstances.

Council understands the changing function of many historic buildings and seeks to apply heritage conservation guidelines with flexibility to enable the adaptation of historic buildings to meet contemporary needs while maintaining heritage significance.
