Membership of Ward Committees

As part of our ongoing consultation with the residents of Ballina Shire, Council has in place community-based committees for each of the shire wards (i.e. A, B and C click to see the Ward Boundary Map). The purpose of these three committees, referred to as Ward Committees, is to provide Council feedback on matters referred to the committees by Council and/or matters raised by committee members on behalf of their community.

Membership of the Ward Committees is limited to representatives from locally based not for profit community groups, with one member representing each group. The committees meet bi-monthly (on odd numbered months – March, May, July, September and November) as follows:

A Ward – on the second Tuesday at 4.00pm
B Ward – on the third Monday at 4.30pm
C Ward – on the second Thursday at 5.00pm

The Ward Committees play an important role in Council's interaction with the community and Council is now seeking further expressions of interest for membership. All applications received will be reported to the elected Council for endorsement. Existing members of our Ward Committees need not re-apply.

Cawarra Park Master Plan

Ballina Shire Council is preparing a Master Plan for Cawarra Park in Ballina. This park is a district-scale sports and recreation facility, meaning it services the broader shire. Cawarra Park includes a sports field (baseball/softball), practice nets, a sports amenity building and non-powered watercraft storage facility (including dragon boats, outriggers and kayaks). Access to North Creek is available via the adjacent Crown Land. The study area for this Draft Master Plan (see below) excludes this strip of Crown Land which contains the public toilet block, carpark and boat ramp. It is intended that Cawarra Park retain a Tier 1 sporting function (meaning more traditional activities based on the provision of ovals, fields and courts) and remain a non-powered water sports hub.

The Draft Master Plan will consider how to renovate Cawarra Park to best address the current and future needs of stakeholders and the wider community. Council would like to know how you use Cawarra Park and your ideas for improvements to better cater for your needs and aspirations into the future.  Tell us what you think by completing the online survey at: ballina.nsw.gov.au/cawarra-park-master-plan
