Disability Inclusion Action Plan

Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Ballina Shire Council, our mission is to create an inclusive and accessible community for all residents, regardless of their abilities. We are dedicated to meeting the requirements of the NSW Disability Inclusion Act 2014, which mandates that all councils in NSW must have a Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) in place.

What is the DIAP?

Our DIAP focuses on four key areas:

1. Developing community attitudes and behaviors.

2. Creating livable communities.

3. Supporting access to meaningful employment.

4. Improving access to services through streamlined systems and processes.

What's New?

Ballina Shire Council endorsed a DIAP that will be effective from 2023 to 2026. This plan is designed to create opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their abilities, to lead active and fulfilling lives.

Stay Informed

Keep in mind that this DIAP will be up for review by 1 July 2025, with the next DIAP scheduled for 1 July 2026.

How the DIAP Helps

The DIAP is a crucial tool that enables the Council to build a more inclusive and accessible environment, facilitating the involvement of individuals with disabilities in community life.
