Batteries should never be disposed of in landfill, recycling or organics bins due to their hazardous components, including lead, mercury and lithium, which pose environmental risks and may lead to severe fires.

Small, household batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, 6V and button cell batteries) can be recycled for free at:

Once your battery is used, tape both ends of the battery terminals, store them in a safe location and out of reach of children before dropping them off at your nearest battery recycling collection point.

Larger batteries and car batteries can be recycled for free at the Ballina Community Recycling Centre - 167 Southern Cross Dr.
