Cawarra Park Master Plan

Ballina Shire Council is preparing a Master Plan for Cawarra Park in Ballina. This park is a district-scale sports and recreation facility, meaning it services the broader shire.

Cawarra Park includes a sports field (baseball/softball), practice nets, a sports amenity building and non-powered watercraft storage facility (including dragon boats, outriggers and kayaks).

Access to North Creek is available via the adjacent Crown Land. The study area for this Draft Master Plan (see below) excludes this strip of Crown Land which contains the public toilet block, carpark and boat ramp.

It is intended that Cawarra Park retain a Tier 1 sporting function (meaning more traditional activities based on the provision of ovals, fields and courts) and remain a non-powered water sports hub.

The Draft Master Plan will consider how to renovate Cawarra Park to best address the current and future needs of stakeholders and the wider community.

The Ballina Shire Sports and Recreation Facilities Plan (2020) identifies change rooms, storage and car parking as some of the improvements to be considered as part of this master planning process.

Community Survey

Council conducted an online survey in February 2022 to better understand the community's needs and aspirations for Cawarra Park. This survey has now closed. This feedback will be collated, reviewed and used to inform a draft master plan.

Subject to the endorsement of the Council, it is anticipated that community groups and the general public will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the draft master plan as part of a public exhibition process.
