Commercial activities on public land

The Commercial Activities on Public Land Policy clarifies allowable commercial activities on public land, and how to regulate and manage those activities to ensure there is a balance between passive and active recreation on public land.

Some of the commercial activities covered in the policy include surf schools, kite surfing, kayak tours, hang gliding and group fitness training.

The policy outlines the number of Commercial Operator Licences to be issued and the operating specifications for each activity.

Generally focused on beach and river activities, this policy seeks to provide a balance between managing the commercial activity and protecting the public amenity for community use.

A Licence Application Form must be completed; documentation and risk assessment attached, and fees paid prior to an application being assessed.
