Ballina Salvage Shed is a resource recovery shop that aims to divert material that can be recycled or reprocessed from landfill. It is operated by Momentum Collective, a not for profit community organisation and the shop supports their programs.

Items for the Salvage Shed in Ballina must be taken over the weighbridge and enter the Waste Management Centre. This prevents the Salvage Shed being inundated with unwanted goods illegally dumped at the front of the premises and assists their staff to focus on resource recovery.

We’re proud to report that the Salvage Shed saves tonnes of reusable materials from entering landfill each year, provides sustainable options to everyday items and reduces the environmental impact of buying new. Why not drop in and see the variety of quality items available?

Recycled Art Competition

The Salvage Shed is running its annual Recycled Art Competition. The is a great way to have fun, help keep materials out of landfill, and create a functional piece of art to keep  or sell!

There are two categories this year: letterbox and backyard animal habitat.

To enter participants can either upcycle or create a mailbox, or create a backyard animal habitat, using recycled, repurposed, or re-used materials. The Salvage Shed has everything you may need.

Entries are open to all artists, hobbyists, young people, community groups and schools. Entries will be judged on the materials used, creativity, durability, practicality, and originality, and must be made from at least 80% recycled or reclaimed materials.

• Under 12 Years Award $50
• 12 – 18 Years Award $100
• Open Award $150
• Group Entry (3+) $150

Entry forms to be submitted to the Salvage Shed, 167 South Cross Drive, Ballina (next the resource recovery centre). Registration must be lodged in store at the Salvage Shed by Saturday 26 October 2024 and all entries must be physically onsite by 3pm Thursday 14 November 2024. 

Winners will be announced and entries on exhibition at the Salvage Shed on Saturday 16 November 2024.
