Sports and Recreation Facility Plan

The purpose of the Sport and Recreation Facility Plan is to assess and document Ballina Shire's current and future sport and active recreation needs to guide Council and the community in providing sport and active recreation facilities.

The objectives of the Plan are to:

  • understand sport and recreation participation and needs
  • establish facility provision gap assessment for current and predicted future demand
  • establish Council’s and the community’s role in addressing demand
  • maximise efficiencies (through rationalisation, avoiding duplication and establishing key partnerships)
  • detail preferred management arrangements
  • develop a detailed and realistic implementation plan that will guide Council (and the community) in the future provision of (and investment in) fit-for-purpose sport, recreation and open space facilities across the LGA.

Wet weather and field closures

Sportfields may close in wet weather or during field renovations. Cancellations are at the discretion of the sporting clubs in the first instance.
