Threatened Species

The Ballina Shire is home to a diverse and unique array of animals (fauna) and plants (flora).

There are 151 fauna species found in the Shire that are classified as threatened under State and Commonwealth legislation - this means that they are at risk of extinction if their population continues to decline!

Some of these species are profiled here, including interesting facts and ways you can help ensure viable populations persist in our Shire for many years to come.
