Ballina Shire Council has custody of building and development application files (BA and DA files) dating back to 1919 for BAs and 1969 for DAs.
Information and documents for recent DAs (from 2010 to current) are available and published free of charge on council's DAs Online portal.
Information and documents relating to earlier building and development application files can be accessed by lodging a historical BA and DA search application with council’s Records Team. The cost of the application is $110 and the available information will be provided within seven working days.
The Records Team will source the information from council’s archive, scan the files and load the information to the Document Delivery Portal (DDP). The DDP delivers electronic information directly to you for viewing online at any time and without the need to leave your home or office.
Before you submit a file request through our Community Portal, you must make sure you have already searched for published property information via our DAs Online portal. DA information that is already published will not be supplied with an historical file request, and fees paid for searches where the DA information is already available on Council's DAs Online portal will not be refunded.
If you’re a frequent Community Portal user we recommend you register and create your unique profile. You'll then be able to login and view your previous transactions, requests and update your details and subscriptions.
