Lennox Head Strategic Plan 2023-2043

Lennox Head has undergone great change over the last decade. The new suburbs we see today were planned for in the Lennox Head Community Aspirations Strategic Plan 2002 and Lennox Head Structure Plan 2004. Most of the Plans have now been delivered.

Ballina Shire Council has resolved to make a new Strategic Plan for the Lennox Head area covering Lennox Village, Ross Lane, Epiq Estate and surrounding communities, and Skennars Head down to North Creek.

The new Lennox Head Strategic Plan 2023-2043 has a 20-year horizon. The community will be invited to identify what they love about Lennox and share their aspirations for the future, particularly in the areas of:

  • Active travel
  • Greenfield development potential (identified in previous plan but not yet delivered)
  • Biodiversity protection
  • Cultural heritage and local character
  • Access to community services and facilities
  • Employment land
  • Infrastructure needs

The timeframe for the project will be as follows:

  • Phase 1 – Technical Research – November 2021 – May 2022
  • Phase 2 – Initial Community Consultation – June – August 2022
  • Phase 3 – Plan Drafting – September 2022 – January 2023
  • Phase 4 – Public Exhibition – February – May 2023

Community Reference Group

Thank you to the members of the community who have registered their interest to join the Community Reference Group. Registrations are now closed. Submissions are being reviewed and applicants will be notified by 10 June 2022.

The Community Reference Group will play an important role in shaping this new strategic plan. The group will brainstorm the implications of key planning choices for the area and map these issues with Council staff.  They will also be in a prime position to offer and champion ideas to be developed into priority actions in the plan.

Selection of members

It is important that a diversity of voices are represented on the Community Reference Group. Selection of members will be based on the following criteria:

  • Geographic location –where members live or work
  • A balance of business and community representatives
  • Connections with local community groups
  • A diversity of ages and backgrounds
  • Purpose for participation

Further opportunities for community feedback, both online and face-to-face, will occur between June and September 2022.
